Abstract

In this study Gracilaria edilis, sargassam and Padina gymnospora from Raameshwaram sea, Tamil Nadu were collected, identified and tested against various pathogenic bacteria. In Antibacterial assay Acetone shows the maximum number of activity against the Salmonella typi (32mm) length of inhibtions occurred and
Acetone shows the minimum activity against Klebsiella pneumonia (18mm) of the inhibition level. Under the Antifungal assay Acetone shows the maximum activity against the penicillium.sp, (10mm) of the inhibition. Acetone shows the moderate activity against the Aspergillus niger (5mm) of inhibition and the minimum
activity in candida sp,. (8mm) of inhibition zone level.
